I’m Sydnie, the Word Witch! I love reading, running, cooking and baking (A.K.A. eating good food), and most of all, spending time with the people I love (hello, quality time love language).
I have a degree in English with an emphasis in creative writing and a minor in business. Someday I hope to write a murder mystery story or a treasure-hunting novel!
Word Witch started as a way for me to use writing to connect with one of my favorite things: the wedding industry! I quit my job as a bridal consultant in 2023 and decided to lean into writing full-time, when I became the writer for local bridal magazine Utah Valley Bride, and now, the Editor-in-Chief.
Word Witch has grown to be the place where I share all my favorite tips and tricks, must-haves, and best places to visit.
My favorite coffee is a honey cinnamon shaken espresso, and my zodiac sign is Cancer (Aquarius moon and Capricorn rising for those who want to know). Why Weddings?
I was one of those girls who had wedding dress design stencils and fashion drawing books growing up. I’ve loved weddings for as long as I can remember—they’re pretty and fun! And who doesn’t just love love?
Of course, I’m in it because of the frills and the flowers, but I’m also a sucker for a good romance. Who isn’t?
Not only have I been a freelance copywriter who specializes in all things bridal for years, but I’ve had my hands in all different areas of the wedding industry; I’ve worked at a bakery, a floral shop, been a bridal consultant at two different wedding dress stores, and in college, I did an internship with a local bridal advertising company.
Because I Love It
I know what it’s like to work directly with brides. I’ve worked with every kind of vendor you can imagine, whether through writing for them or interacting with amazing people at bridal shows and networking events.
And, I’ve talked with more brides and couples in my lifetime than I could possibly count! I’m one of those sympathetic criers who gets emotional when people tell me their love story. Or when you show me a cute video of river otters holding hands.
